Being a Life-saver

Blood Donation Awareness.

On March 02, 2014, a couple of school children at SKEF took up a community project of spreading awareness in the society towards blood donation. They went door to door distributing leaflets on the advantages of donating blood. In the process, they interacted with cobblers, cab drivers, retailers, doctors, school authorities, people coming at fuel stations, banks, vegetable markets etc.

The students understood the procedural details of blood transfusion under expert medical supervision. They took care of the registrations and the donors together.

The students learned that donating blood is safe and simple. It takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete the transfusion. Any healthy adult between the 18 years and 60 years of age can donate blood.

The children conveyed a beautiful message to the world:

Blood donation is helpful and nice
It is in our blood to save lives
To prevent clotting of blood
You add anti-coagulation solution in a flood

The blood is safe so don’t worry
It gets transfused in a hurry
350 ml taken in a huff
It saves 3 lives we don’t bluff

We hoped we have helped you in a little way
And we are sure you have nothing bad to say
We hope we have not made you fall
Thank you and we love you all.
